Dance Programmes

GCSE Dance

Following the AQA syllabus, GCSE Dance is 2 year course offering a whole new range of skills for the young dancer not normally found in mainstream class.

The syllabus encourages creativity with a large majority of the course devoted to learning the art of choreography. Dance history and appreciation is also taught with students developing the skills to analyse and appreciate professional works in a diversity of dance styles. Technique is of course still an important factor but this course is designed to be accessible to all despite dance skill level.

An excellent and inspiring course for those students who wish to explore the art form more deeply.

Dance Leadership

Dance leadership supported by Sports leaders UK is a short course offered twice throughout the year. Delivered initially at the level 1 and then level 2 qualification, students will embark upon the training required to learn the skills of leadership , communication, and basic dance technique. Students will work closely with elev8 teaching staff to learn the basic principles behind good leadership and will have hands on experience with teaching younger students in the school under supervision.

Level 2 is for the most senior students and explores a more deeper understanding of leadership and delivering physical activity more independently.

Professional Teaching Qualifications

Training in professional dance teaching qualifications are available for the ISTD and IDTA associations. These are for those students with a strong training background and who wish to pursue dance as a career. Individual programmes are delivered upon request.
